Germany

After leaving England we flew to Frankfurt Germany.

We loved the quaint German villages and the fun shoppes!

This is a small village near Munich.

After leaving Frankfurt, we drove through the countryside on our way to the little village where Birch lived when he was 14.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in the mountains.

View from our balcony.

The fall colors were beautiful.

The building Birch's family lived in.

Peeking in the window of his old home.

Birch with his long lost friend. Wolfgang Albrecht went to school with Birch when they were young. He is the pharmacists in town.

The next day we went to Bayreuth, where Birch served when he was on his mission.

Looking out our hotel window.

We walked to church.

Birch taught Sister Narius when he was a missionary. She was so excited to meet him again!

The next day we went to visit Neuschwanstein, a famous castle in the foothills of the Alps.

We rode the horse buggy up to the castle.

The castle was magnificent!

The view was spectacular!

It was beautiful inside. Lots of stairs! One room had a built-in cave. Another room had a mural on the wall and it looked just like the forest of Snow White. (we couldn't take pictures...)

Looking down at another castle...after climbing up the mountain to catch a bus back down the mountain....what a workout!!

We had dinner at a little place in the village.

Spaetzle, cabbage and gammon.....Wienerschnitzel for Birch!!

Yummy food with great apple juice!!!!!!

It was a fun, but tiring day. A beautiful evening in the foothills of Germany! We left the next day for Dublin. We stayed in Dublin overnight. The Gielmann's came to the hotel to tell us goodbye. The next thing we knew, we were back in America. Our mission had come to a close. Two of the best years of our lives.
